What's on the form

• Customer details, date booked in and collection date
• Item, make and model, serial number, accessories left with it
• Fault description in the customer’s own words
• Estimate yes/no, spending limit and deposit
• Work and parts with quantity and price, total
• Status (booked in, in progress, ready, collected) and two signatures

What works in practice

• Always write down the accessories. Charger, case, memory card: anything not on the sheet becomes an argument at collection.
• Agree a spending limit. "Up to 80 without calling" saves phone calls and surprises on both sides.
• Tell the customer as soon as it is ready. Forgotten items take up shelf space. A short message with the amount and opening hours does it.
